Fyntech's Tapeweld

Tapeweld is an instant emergency pipe repair system that is simple to use with no mixing or measuring required. Tapeweld Bandages have a woven fibreglass substrate impregnated with a water-activated polyurethane resin.

Features

Tapeweld's ability to perform effectively in emergency situations greatly reduces costly downtime and production loss. Because of the product's ease of use, it can be applied by practically any apprentice applicator.

Application Areas

Tapeweld has also been successfully used in plumbing repairs, petrochemical, general manufacturing, food and chemical processing and marine industries, from small fishing crafts to boiler and engine rooms within container shipping vessels.

Application

Tapeweld Bandages are simple to use and require very little preparation:

1. Once the leaking area is identified, shut down relevant pipes or hoses immediately.

2. Prepare the surface by cleaning and roughening the pipe.

3. Put on enclosed latex gloves.

4. Apply Tapeweld Steel Putty to the leak site and mould if required.

5. Open foil pouch and immerse Tapeweld Bandage in temperate fresh water for 10 seconds. The entire contents must be used once the package is opened.

6. Apply Tapeweld Bandage around the damaged area, extending up to 50mm (2") either side of the leak to ensure complete coverage. It is important that the bandage is applied quickly as curing begins once it is taken out of the water.

7. Whilst wrapping, pull each layer tightly and firmly, using your hand to mould and squeeze the layers together in a tightening motion. Continue to apply pressure by this action during application and upon completion.

Tapeweld is resistant to most chemicals, including harsh solvents such as MEK, hydrochloric acid and gasoline. These chemicals do not cause any softening of the bandage. Its heat resistance is 150° Celsius; anything over this could cause toxic flames.
